Within the past few years, PMG’s status has shifted from that of a local treasure to a nationally-recognized arts and culture center. In 2010, PMG served 47,500 visitors, with another 3500 attending our educational tours. Our guests have traveled from as far away as Japan and Australia to experience the Gardens, while the main audience for PMG’s core programs is Philadelphia residents.

Our community-oriented programs rely on the physical condition of Zagar's incredible site and community murals. But imagine if they all disappeared? The harmful combination of weather conditions and daily interaction with people will slowly reduce these Philadelphia treasures to faded piles of rubble. We are at a critical moment to develop a preservation plan to prevent site deterioration and protect this unique destination.

 

In 2012, we are requesting a combination of resources to accurately capture Zagar's creative vision and safeguard his large-scale works, protecting them for generations to come. The structure--and its founder--are currently holding strong, but now is the perfect time to document and plan for future preservation. As PMG grows and matures, each donated dollar significantly impacts the continuation of Zagar’s work, vision, and spirit. Now is the perfect time to become a member.

PMG Memberships are affordably priced, offer numerous benefits, and provide a unique way to engage with this iconic Philadelphia artwork. There are also several donation and sponsorship options, as well as ways to get involved by volunteering and by sharing your stories, photos and more.
